Pittsburgh's Scoot'n Yinzers

Ridin' da'Burgh on Vespas n' Piaggios n'at

Tour d'Burgh on Vespas n'at

I would like to welcome all yinz to da'Burgh. My name is Mitch the Scooter Dude. I am the Founder of the Scoot'n Yinzers, a thriving Vespa club in Pittsburgh. On July 26th, 2009, our club embarked on a ride led by a professional photographer, who showed us all the best vantage points for great cityscapes. My pictures were taken with a cheap, hand held digital camera, but I thought I would share them with you so you can get a taste of the city that has the best football team in the world, a Stanley Cup winning hockey team and will deservedly host the 2009 G-20 Summit.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: there is a local dialect you will need to learn. da'Burgh, yinz, jaggoff, redd-up and nebby are Pittsburghese words, which are part of the curious local dialect spoken primarily by da'Burgh's working class, known locally as "Yinzers".)

convention center

The building with the roof that resembles a large sail laid on its side is the convention center. It is a certified green building. It is 1/2 block from Greyhound and Amtrak.

Duquesne Incline

This is the Duquesne Incline (pronounce DU-kayne) There are lots of fancy-pants restaurants on Grandview Ave (Le Mont is best known). You can get to Grandview Ave from Station Square (which also has some excellent restaurants and nightclubs) by riding a tram up this harrowing hill.

This is one of the classic views of dahn tahn. The bridge on the center left takes you to Heintz Field, PNC Park, the Casinos and the North Shore and Mexican War Street areas, which is also an excellent place to eat and party.

If you come back for a game, gambling or a getaway, try this love B&B in the Mexican War Street District.

This is the view from the front porch of the before mentioned B&B. WOW. Kind of reminds you of Central Park a little.

If yinz love da'Burgh and want to stay, unemployment is 8.2% (below the national average of 9.5% as of this writing) and the majority of houses in the city cost less than $100,000 --- for a very nice, updated home, needing nothing. Just a couple arrrs of redding-up, and yinz are ready to move in!

Don't be a jaggoff and tell anybody I told yinz about da'Burgh. We're trying to keep it a secret from Browns fans and other nebby types.
