Mitch the Scooter Dude How to winterize yourself or your scooter

The leaves are turning yellow, brown and orange and fingers are turning blue. If you are looking for gear to keep riding through the winter, you may wish to visit European Motorcycles of Pittsburgh or your nearest Harley dealership for some hard-core warm weather gear. Harley Davidson makes a pair of winter gloves that are considered the warmest in the business (BMW's are a close second). BMW dealers generally carry Gerbings electric gloves, vest, pants, socks, etc. Harley has its own br… Continue

Mitch the Scooter Dude Here's why Italian scooters will always outsell German scooters

Holy Zundapp, Bella, will you look at this? BMW proves that it can make a fugly scooter with bleeding edge safety features and advanced technology that nobody can afford, which hardly matters, because you can't buy one anyway. Its a concept scooter built on the frame of the failedContinue

Tom Delegram OCT. 4th RALLY TO OAKHURST TEA ROOM

Hey Tom & June - Thanks for the great rally to the Laurel Highlands. A great tunout even with the colder weather. It will toughen us up for future trips. From the scoot I saw three must do photos in all that great scenery. As we were enjoying our meal, June said "nobody should go away hungry" - how true. Since we went that far with you and June maybe a future trip to Ligonier [711 or381 north off 31]. Where were the cameras?? Continue

Tom Delegram SEPT. 20th RALLY TO WATERING HOLE #2

Thank"s to all who did the Sept. 20th, Rally To Watering hole #2. Excellent weather and scenic back country roads that are enjoyable to cruise on our scoots made for a great ride [a "Sunday Ride" on Sunday]. An unusual destination for our meal was the final touch. No scantilly clad waitress or Maitre'd in black tie but good simple fare. A local "Historian" was introduced to the group who could out talk our best and might have an "eye" on another. Steve "Menhir" is back on his Vespa and that was… Continue

Mitch the Scooter Dude Tour da'Burgh photo tour

Tom "Camera Boy" Delegram sure knows his way around the city. Our tour of 16 different vantage points used by photographers for great cityscape photos of Yinzburgh was pruned by a few stops towards the end so we could get to Billy's Bistro a little earlier and feed some hungry riders. After a late lunch, several riders back tracked with Tom to see the stops that were skipped. In all, 17 riders and passengers attended, and considering that the day started out dreary and… Continue

Tommy V My ride to Ross Park Mall

Last night my wife and I took a ride to Ross Park Mall on the Vespa. Its about a 19 mile ride one way. The weather was awesome! It is a great ride with not a lot of large highway to get there. On the way we saw one person riding a Vespa. It is pretty exciting seeing a fellow Vespa rider. We also came across many others on motorcyles. Just about every rider waved to us. After some shopping at the Mall we at Cheesecake Factory. We fit 3 shirts that my wife bought, a shirt and sunglasses that I bo… Continue

Mitch the Scooter Dude Ride Report: The Scoot'n Yinzer June Junket

Fifteen Scoot'n Yinzer Riders on 13 scooters met at the Trailside Restaurant in West Newton for the June Junket to the West Overton Museum. Scoot'n Deb led the riders on Mitch's amazing Aprila SR50 (49ccs of DY-NO-MITE) though some narrow, twisty, farm roads to the grounds of the Overton Museum. We sat on the front porch of the main house, talked about scooters and other topics, while enjoying pizza, homemade desert and gelati. Afterward, we looked at lots of old stuff… Continue

Mitch the Scooter Dude May Marathon Ride a Success

We enjoyed perfect riding weather (sunny and 68 degrees) all the way and a good turnout equal to half our total membership. Fifteen of us met at the Bee Hive to start the ride.
See photos of the ride here on Pittsburgh's Scoot'n Yinzers
Along the way, five riders dropped off near the end to get home and start their dreaded list of "honey do's." Our party of ten arrived at Vincent's at Green tree aro… Continue

Deb aka "Mojito Mama" You know you've been on the scooter too long when . . .

. . . you begin to slow as a nasty manhole appears within your 12 second safety zone . . . and, you're driving your car ! Yup, after a weekend filled with scootering, there I was driving into "dahntahn" 'Burg to work this afternoon and, as I was rolling my cage down 30, I did exactly that. I smiled to myself and wondered what everyone else's answer would be to this post title. There is no cure. Not even any treatment. Just knowing glances on nodding heads . . . Continue
